The meeting aims to gather various European practitioners and professionals active in the fields of sound, visual arts, performance arts, and digital culture in general. By putting together different perspectives, we hope to enable collaborative work especially via the development of new technologies and languages at the intersection of various fields of creation and research.
The meeting intend to contribute to the networking of artists and organisations working in the field of digital culture across Europe and to foster the debate on the developments in media arts, focusing on long term collaborations and project development in the context of Timisoara 2021 – European Capital of Culture.

The meeting goal is to establish direct connections with organizations or project spaces that have similar activities and fields of interest as SIMULTAN, in order to discuss the possibilities of a closer co-working and co-production activity starting from 2018.

All the events are open for the public and the active participation of audience is encouraged. 

Olof van Winden

Olof van Winden is director and founder of the TodaysArt festival in The Hague. Previously Van Winden was the director of The Netherlands Media Art Institute in Amsterdam. Known for his unconventional approach and considered an expert in media art, e-culture, creativity and innovation.

Philippe Franck [BE]

Art historian, sound/interdisciplinary artist, essayist and art critic, Philippe Franck (Belgium) is the director and founder of Transcultures. He is the founder and director of the international sound art festival City Sonic (since 2003) and Les Transnumériques, digital arts & cultural biennale (since 2005).

Tere Badia [ES]

Art historian, Since 2010 is the director of Hangar (Barcelona). Coordinator of the program Disonancias. Researcher on cultural policies, art networks, international cultural cooperation and art research and production. She has also developed her career in Fundación Interarts and the comunication agency Goetzinger+Komplizen.


Martin Bricelj Baraga [SL]

He is the director of MoTA – Museum of Transitory Art and the founder of SONICA Festival in Ljubljana.
His interactive works, audiovisual performances and collaborative work research the relation between man and machine, social aspects of contemporary pop culture, future monumentalism and political dimensions of mediated realities of today.

Florian Weigl [NL]

Florian Weigl is part of the curatorial team of V2_ since 2015. He focuses on creating various public programs making visible what’s happening in the lab and our talent development in the shape of Test_Lab’s and initiated 3×3.
Florian also works as an external advisor for Amsterdamse Fonds voor de Kunsten and Province Overijssel. He was part of DeVerdieping, the cultural basement of TrouwAmsterdam, has curated the Bright Collisions symposium about art and technology and the future of art at TodaysArt festival, co-curated FIBER festival ’11 and ’12.

Sâmbăta Sonoră is a place for experiments in listening, a passageway to another kind of structure, context, attitude, (com)position, history, curiosity, silence or concentration. We want to open doors and not only to be right, to see how much we trust taste, but to remain unattached, to survey academism and return all the more credibly to experimentation, to contradict ourselves through enthusiasm and to provoke answers.

Simon de Koning [DE/NL]

Simon de Koning is the founder of SOLO Music Gallery and Those Who Makes Waves.
Presenting and representing sound art, artists in a digital age.

Horea Avram

Horea Avram is Assistant Professor at the Department of Cinema and Media, Faculty of Theatre and Television, Babeş-Bolyai University, Cluj. PhD in Art History and Communication Studies at McGill University, Montreal. He researches and writes about new media art, representation theory, multimedia performance, technology and visual culture.

Mihai Dragan [RO]

Founder of Plan Zero, an open workshop, a community of creative individuals organized in a makerspace, working together on various projects based on collaboration, innovation, exploration.

Kurt D’Haeseleer 

Kurt d ‘Haeseleer is the artistic director of the Werktank, factory for new and old media art. The Werktank is a production platform for media art. Its main mission is the production and distribution of installation art that explores the relationship between technology and perception. D’Haeseleer himself produced  several videos and (interactive) video installations, such as “Scripted Emotions’, ‘Fossilization’ and ‘S CKMYP’.

Daniele Penna alias Takehiko [IT]

Daniele Penna is a multimedia artist, graphic designer and vj; in the past videomaker photographer and teacher of Audiovisual Art. He studied architecture, animation and media comunication. He is involved in LPM, Flxer and AVnode. Italian translator of Resolume software. Admin of the italian vj forum; member of Antica Proietteria, a guild of projecters.

A project by Asociatia Simultan in cooperation with Timișoara 2021 – European Capital of Culture
