Sound Lines – From Avant-Garde to Immersive is a multidisciplinary cultural project exploring the creative universe of Iannis Xenakis, a visionary polymath whose architectural thinking and sound spatialisation theories anticipated contemporary immersive media.

The installation features archive multimedia alongside MX / breath, a 12-channel interactive sound installation by Alex Deak at the MX Museum in Timișoara. Inspired by the raw materiality of a former tram depot, the audio reacts dynamically to the audience's movements, transforming the industrial space into a living organism with vertical trajectories rising toward the central skylight. The project fuses organic breathing with mineral matter, tech, and human presence into an evolving artistic expression. Bridging theoretical research, analogue and digital sound experimentation, graphic design by Ștefan Georgescu, and live performance, the initiative acts as a catalyst between architecture, music, mathematics, and new media.

The project is co-funded by the Administration of the National Cultural Fund (AFCN).
Developed alongside partners including the Embassy of Greece, the Union of Romanian Architects, the Timișoara Project Center, the Brăila Museum and Les Amis de Xenakis.
