Image and Sound is a non-profit cultural association (“Cultural Center for Image and Sound”) established in 2017 in Bucharest by Emilian Mărgărit, Elena Dobîndă, and George Călugăru. Driven by a desire to delineate new dimensions of visual and sonic experience, Image and Sound initiates projects and events that bridge distinct mediums of expression and research, focusing on their cross-disciplinary intersections and the experimental and theoretical nature of artistic production.
Elena Dobîndă studied Political Science at the Alexandru Ioan Cuza University of Iași, followed by Scenography at the National University of Theatre and Cinematography in Bucharest. Since 2017, she has dedicated herself to her passion for cinema, music, sound, and fine arts, exploring ways to synthesise these creative directions through studio experiments and cultural projects.
Emilian Mărgărit holds a PhD in Philosophy, specialising in contemporary French philosophy. He has published articles in collective volumes and academic journals, and has completed research fellowships in Konstanz and Paris. Based in Bucharest since 2014, he works as a PR specialist, cultural manager, and curator, while occasionally writing on contemporary art.
