Štrudel offers a unique series of delicate sonic maelstroms, all corresponding with the current confusing and unsettling times. Džukljev plays a prepared piano and creates delicate vibrations with objects and sticks attached to the piano strings, later expanded by minimalist and repetitive gestures; some are gamelan-sounding and ripple-like, and others are more urgent and loud. dieb13 intensifies these reverberating storms with layers of vibrating sounds of his own — sampled, manipulated and processed from three turntables. There are times when it is difficult to know who is doing what, and more importantly, when the acoustic sounds or the rhythmic patterns are extended organically by the sampled and processed ones, and vice versa. Other times, dieb13 sounds like he is injecting a sober, ironic perspective into Džukljev’s attempt to discipline this session in a ritualist form.

dieb13 (Dieter Kovačič, born 1973) is an Austrian improvisation musician in the field of turntablism. Since the late 1980s, he has been continuously working on transforming cassette recorders, vinyl, CDs and hard discs into instruments. His other artist names are Takeshi Fumimoto and Echelon. Since 1997, dieb13 has played hundreds of concerts in more than 30 countries, both as a soloist and as a member of various ensembles. In 2000, he founded klingt.org, a web platform specialising in abstract and experimental music, offering services for artists and unreleased tracks as free audio-on-demand.
Marina Džukljev is a pianist, educator and active performer in the fields of free improvisation, classical, contemporary and applied music. She collaborates with a wide range of multimedia artists across the region and further. She is a member of the quartet, septet, tentet and the large ensemble of composer and violist Szilárd Mezei, with whom she has recorded and published music over many years of collaboration. She is an active member of the duos Noid / Marina Džukljev and Porteleki / Džukljev, the trios Mezei / Trilla / Džukljev, Fresh Dust Trio and MRM trio, as well as the international ensemble Šalter. Marina is a curator and the organiser of Improstor, an improvised music concert series and Festival in Opposition in Novi Sad.
